Connect your AI app to Bana Video
Bana Video runs an MCP server on your computer. Point Claude, Cursor, Codex or any MCP app at it, and they can edit your timeline while you watch. It’s included on every plan, Free too.
- 1
Install Bana Video and sign in
Download Bana Video and sign in. A free account is enough. Your tokens belong to your account, so MCP only works while you’re signed in.
- 2
Open a project
While the editor is open, Bana Video serves MCP at
http://127.0.0.1:8765/mcp. That address only works on your own computer. - 3
Create a token
In Bana Video, open Account from the title bar or the launcher, then Connect an AI app › Create token. Give it a name, like “Cursor on my laptop”. Bana Video shows the setup for each app with your token already filled in. Copy it from there, because the token is shown only once.
- 4
Add Bana Video to your AI app
Paste the setup where your app keeps its MCP servers. The setups below show where each one goes.
- 5
Ask it to edit
Try “What’s on my Bana Video timeline?” and then “Trim the silences from the interview.” Each change is one undo step in Bana Video, and you watch it happen on the timeline.
Setup for your app
Replace <your-bana-token> with your token, or copy the ready-made version from Bana Video’s Account page.
claude mcp add --transport http bana http://127.0.0.1:8765/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your-bana-token>"Good to know
Is it private?
Yes. The connection never leaves your computer: Bana Video answers on 127.0.0.1 only, and it refuses requests from web pages and other sites.
What can the AI app do without asking?
It can read and edit the timeline. Deleting clips or timelines, and any generation that costs credits, opens a confirmation in Bana Video first, with the price shown.
How do I disconnect an app?
Open Account › Connect an AI app and revoke its token. Signing out of Bana Video also stops every connected app until you sign back in.
Using another MCP app?
Add a “streamable HTTP” MCP server with the URL http://127.0.0.1:8765/mcp and the header Authorization: Bearer <your-bana-token>.
It says “Sign in to Bana Video” or “needs a token”
Make sure you're signed in to Bana Video with the same account that made the token, and that the token hasn't been revoked. If in doubt, create a new token and paste it again.
It can't connect at all
Bana Video has to be running with a project open. If something else on your computer uses port 8765, start Bana Video with BANA_MCP_PORT set to another port and change the URL to match.
